Template:ARBGMO alert
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in genetically modified organisms, commercially produced agricultural chemicals and the companies that produce them, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. In addition to the discretionary sanctions described above the Arbitration Committee has also imposed a restriction which states that you cannot make more than one revert on the same page in the same 24 hour period on all pages relating to genetically modified organisms, agricultural biotechnology, or agricultural chemicals, broadly construed and subject to certain exemptions.
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:ARBGMO alert}}). Any accidental transclusions will be automatically substituted by a bot. |
This template calls {{Ds/alert}} with the GMO topic specified along with a message about the one revert restriction also imposed on the topic area.
Usage
All pages relating to genetically modified organisms, agricultural biotechnology, or agricultural chemicals, broadly construed have had Arbitration Discretionary Sanctions (DS) and a one revert rule imposed on them. Users editing these pages may be alerted that discretionary sanctions are in effect and that 1RR applies to them. You must use this template to do so. If you do not wish to notify the user that 1RR has been imposed you can use {{ds/alert}} (see that page for details).
Alerts ensure a user knows what is expected of them. Alerts are a neutral courtesy; never use them to intimidate, coerce, or shame another editor.
Logging
Using this template will trigger EditFilter 602. As a result, your edit containing the alert will be tagged with "discretionary sanctions alert". Edits with this tag can be searched for in user contributions, user talk page histories, Special:RecentChanges, and the log of EditFilter 602.
Therefore, an automatic system log of all alerts is maintained. You need not do anything except leave the alert.
To see whether a user has been Alerted to discretionary sanctions, load the history of their user talk page and search for discretionary sanctions alert
under the 'tag filter' field. You can use the {{Ds/log}} template (usually alongside {{user}} in noticeboard reports) to quickly generate links for conducting searches of issued alerts.
Additionally, current instances of the template are tracked here and counted here. Alerts that were subsequently deleted from the user's talk page will only appear in the EditFilter log, so this is the primary tracking mechanism.
If your alert does not log, please seek assistance at Template talk:Ds.
See Template:Ds/alert for more information.
