It displays a notice on the page and includes it in Category:Synagogue disambiguation pages (a subcategory of Category:Religious buildings and structures disambiguation pages). It is similar in function to Template:Disambiguation which is used on general purpose disambiguation pages. This is not intended for pages formatted as set index articles.
