Following a 2021 TfD, consensus on whether this template should be used is unclear. It should be used only in situations in which sub judice concerns apply, such as for people involved in legal matters which have been subject to a suppression order. |
Some jurisdictions place limits on out-of-court commentary which may affect ongoing legal proceedings. In the United States, where Wikipedia is hosted, the First Amendment provides some protection, but editors residing in or otherwise accountable to relevant jurisdictions should take care. In addition, Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy provides for a similar level of care, and is mandatory for all editors.
