Template intended to force fonts that support the two Cuneiform Unicode blocks.

Usage

known fonts:

  • Akkadian[1] (automatically provided as webfont if the Language Selector is enabled)
  • Noto Sans Cuneiform by Google[2]
  • Free Idg Serif[3] (Old Assyrian)
  • CuneiformNA [4] (Neo Assyrian)

Optionally, two parameters can be used. In this case, the first parameter is either

  • a number from 1 to 7, specifying the historical stage preferred, per Image:SAG.png:
SAG.png
  1. archaic pictogram, around 3000 BC.
  2. rotated pictogram, around 2800 BC.
  3. abstracted glyphs in archaic monumental inscriptions, from ca. 2600 BC
  4. Classical Sumerian cuneiform as written in clay, from ca. 2600 BC
  5. Neo-Sumerian, late 3rd millennium
  6. Old Assyrian, early 2nd millennium, as adopted into Hittite.
  7. Neo-Assyrian, early 1st millennium
This is so far supported only for (4) to (7), for lack of fonts for the other stages.
  • or an ISO 639-2/ISO 639-3 language code
    • akk = Akkadian, ela = Elamite, hit = Hittite, sux = Sumerian, xeb = Eblaite, xht = Hattic, xlu = Luwian, peo = Old Persian

use {{transl|Xsux|...}} for transliterations of cuneiform, and {{transl|sux|...}}, {{transl|akk|...}}, {{transl|hit|...}} to transliterate specific languages.

Examples

  • {{cuneiform|sux|𒅴𒂠}} EME.GIR15 -> 𒅴𒂠 EME.GIR15
  • {{cuneiform|hit|𒉈𒅆𒇷}} ne-ši-li -> 𒉈𒅆𒇷 ne-ši-li
