This non-cinematographic work is in the public domain in Japan, as under Japanese law, the Author's rights to a work last for the life of the author plus 50 years, or 50 years after publication for anonymous, pseudonymous, or corporate works.

According to article 62 of the copyright laws of Japan, Property rights are to belong to the state according to provisions of the Civil Law and other laws after the copyright owner dead without heir or dissolution of a legal person or an organization. The product must also be in the public domain in the United States.
