Purpose

This template is for creating a properly-formatted reference citation to articles in Pool & Billiard Magazine, frequently cited in cue sports articles (see WikiProject Cue sports for more information). It is almost always used inside <ref name="PBMag YYYY-XX">...</ref> (with the date). The benefit of the template is that it automatically provides the |publisher=, |issn=, |location=, and |journal= parameters of {{Cite journal}} for you.

Usage

{{PBMag
|title=
|first=
|last=
|date=
|pages=
|volume=
|issue=
|at=
|url=
|access-date=
}}

The template uses the same (relevant) parameter names as {{Cite news}}. The |title= parameter is required. If the cited item is a regular feature (such as a mini-column), use the feature's name as the title, e.g. |title=Calendar. If the feature has no by-line, you can use the editor of the tournament section as the author for purposes of tournament articles, or otherwise use the last name of the managing editor, and first name of the managing editor followed by "(ed.)".

The at parameter can be used, optionally, to specific the name (without quotation marks or other markup) of the section or department in which the article appears, if the article has a separate title.

This template cannot be subst'd, unless this is done before it is put inside <ref...></ref> (due to a bug in the <ref> and <references /> system). There is no reason to subst it anyway, and doing so will produce messy results.

If you need to cite the same source in the same article more than once, use <ref name="PBMag YYYY-XX" /> for the subsequent citations. See {{rp}} if a page number is needed in subsequent citations.

If only one page or page range needs to be cited in this source in the article, simply add the page number(s) with the page or pages parameter, as appropriate (without "p." or "pp.").

The url parameter is only for a URL directly to an online copy of the cited article, not to the magazine's homepage nor to a Wikipedia article about the magazine.

Example

Article text.<ref name="PBMag 2008-02">{{PBMag|title=Allison Fisher: 2007 'Player of the Year'|date=February 2008|last=Shank|first=Dale|volume=26|issue=2|pages=18–20}}</ref>

(The quotation marks were in the original title.) This Produces:
