Template documentationUsage
To be used to provide Tor/Onion links, analogously to {{Official website}}. Provide the domain name, without .onion, as the first parameter. (Unlike {{Official website}}, this template cannot access the wikidata entry automatically.)
Recommendation: Due to the impossibility of confirming a site's authenticity from the domain name alone, it is considered good wiki practice to cite a reliable source for the domain. Typically this citation is done somewhere in the body of the article, or in the site infobox (use the recommended {{Onion URL}} in the infobox).
You can use this template in two forms, depending on whether you have whitelisted the .onion domain.
- For most onion sites, which are automatically blacklisted, use {{Onion Official site|facebookcorewwwi}} produces:
- Official Tor site: facebookcorewwwi.onion (Accessing link help)
- Official Tor site: facebookcorewwwi.onion
- For onion sites where you've obtained a whitelist exemption, you may use {{Onion Official site|facebookcorewwwi|whitelisted=yes}} which produces:
IMPORTANT: Currently wikipedia has a blacklist on most .onion links. Before using this template to produce hyperlinks, it is necessary to request a whitelisting of the intended link! Current whitelisted sites (as of 21 Aug 2017 -- search the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist for the string ".onion" to find all whitelisted sites):
