Template:OASA icons/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:OASA icons. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This template produces inline icons for the different Athens public transport services and lines.
The template is named OASA, because the Athens Urban Transport Organisation (Organismos Astikon Syngoinonion Athinon, Greek: Οργανισμός Αστικών Συγκοινωνιών Αθηνών - Ο.Α.Σ.Α.) would be the Athenian equivalent of Transport for London.
Usage
Please avoid adding these icons within the prose of articles: per Wikipedia's Manual of Style for icons, "Icons should not be used in the article body... This breaks up the continuity of the text, distracting the reader".
In addition, icons used in this way are primarily decorative, e.g. "aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder: one reader's harmless decoration may be another reader's distraction": While the icons provide visual cues in certain circumstances, writing in prose can suffice. Instead, provide a link to the services directly, as in [[Line 1 (Athens Metro)|Line 1]]
to produce Line 1.
Valid Parameters
- The first parameter selects the line or service (the default is the Athens Metro logo).
- The second parameter sets the size of the logos in pixels. If this parameter is omitted, the default size is 13 pixels.
Note that this template is not case sensitive: i.e. {{OASA icons|R}}
produces the same result as {{OASA icons|r}}
.

Sources
As of October 2012, none of the organisations behind the construction or operation of the Athens Metro, the Athens Tram or Proastiakos specify the exact web colour values for lines and logos, but the organisations agree on a general scheme for identifying lines.[2][3] However, the general agreement is not sufficient enough for Wikipedia to rely on, and as such, colours from the London Underground are used for ease of identification until a design standard is published by Attiko Metro S.A, STASY S.A or OASA S.A.[4]
