{{No spam}}
(or {{@}}
) →
This template is designed to help prevent spam from being sent to an e-mail address inserted onto a Wikipedia page. Because nearly all spam is automated,[1] altering the format of the e-mail address to where it does not match the regular expression(s) in the e-mail address search engine helps prevent spam. This template works by displaying an image of the '@' symbol. If an email address input is provided, the template will display the email address and with an image of the '@' symbol inserted (instead of the symbol's actual text). This prevents automated search engines and crawlers that use the '@' symbol in their search algorithms and regex code from identifying email addresses published on Wikipedia, hence preventing the email address from being retrieved and added to any spam recipient lists.
