Template:English district density
This is a group of templates that provide an easy method to link to population statistics for English districts. The templates are updated from time to time as the Office for National Statistics (ONS) releases new data, thus it should not be necessary to manually update the articles or their references. Districts are identified by passing a GSS code as a parameter. The Office for National Statistics began using the new GSS codes in preference to the old ONS codes in January 2011. The templates' support for the old 4-character ONS codes has now been discontinued (February 2017).
The templates are:
- {{English district total}} – gives the current total number of districts
- {{English district population}} – gives the population for a district
- {{English district rank}} – gives the district's position in a list ordered by population (greatest first)
- {{English district density}} – gives the district's population density (per square kilometre)
- {{English district density rank}} – gives the district's position in a list ordered by population density (greatest first)
- {{English district area}} – gives the district's area (square kilometres)
- {{English district area rank}} – gives the district's position in a list ordered by area (largest first).
The following also apply to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland:
- {{United Kingdom district population citation}} – gives a citation for the source of population data
- {{United Kingdom statistics year}} – gives the year to which the estimate applies (not the year it was generated)
