Most common questions
- Q: When using {{convert}} why does the answer sometimes seem somewhat off?
- A: This template takes into account the precision of the supplied value and generally rounds the output to the same level of precision. If you need to change from the default output precision, see rounding.
- Q: What are all the possible units (kg, lb, m, cm, ft, in, °C, °F, km, mi, nmi, mph, km/h, and so on)?
- A: See Help:Convert units for an introduction and Module:Convert/documentation/conversion data for the complete list.
- Q: I've been using Convert for some time and am pretty comfortable with its basic features. Does it have other features which it would be worth my while to learn about?
- A: Almost certainly. Start with Help:Convert.
Showing words with conversions
- Q: Can a conversion say "million" rather than use zeroes "000,000"?
- A: Yes, see million.
- Q: How can extra text be displayed?
- A: See extra words.
- Q: How can numbers be spelled-out in words?
- A: See spell out numbers.
Changing the format
- Q: How can we reverse the order of input and output units?
- A: See flipping (reordering).
- Q: How can we show just the number or just the unit?
- A: See displaying parts of a conversion.
Creating a new unit
- Q: The unit I need is not in the list so can I create a new unit for it?
- A: Yes, a new unit can be added at Module:Convert/extra. It would generally be better to first propose the addition of a new unit at Template talk:Convert.
