This template provides a quick, standard method of citing the Dictionary of Indian Biography
It is a wrapper around the standard citation template {{cite encyclopedia}}
. As such it fills out some {{cite encyclopedia}}
parameters, but the full range of parameters provided by WP:CS1 are available. To change the appearance of the output to that of {{citation}}
use the parameter |mode=cs2
.
Usage
All parameters apart from |title=
or |wstitle=
are optional:

In addition to the full range of parameters provided by WP:CS1 there are some specialised parameters

— will display the text assigned to it in place of that for|wstitle=
. This is useful for hiding disambiguation extensions.|short=
— if set to anything it will prevent certain fields from being displayed. Useful to reduce verbiage when the template is used in the "External links" section.|noicon=
y (or any other text) — this hides the icon at the start of the citation. It is not the same as the standard wikisource icon as found in{{cite wikisource}}
which has been disabled in this template
