Usage
This template outputs the ʻokina character (ʻ) used to mark the phonetic glottal stop used in Polynesian languages such as Hawaiian, Tongan and Samoan. It is also used for aspiration in Wade–Giles transcription and for some romanizations of the Semitic letter ayin. It does not accept any parameters.
For the glottal stop letter in many other languages that curls the other way, use {{hamza}}. For the straight glottal-stop letter, use {{saltillo}}. For the unambiguous ayin, use {{ayin}}.
