Usage
When to use
Place this template on an article when you have identified a serious issue of subject imbalance due to a substantial area of the article's subject being missing or poorly dealt with, and when you wish to attract editors who may be able to redress the balance. Please immediately explain on the article's talk page why you are adding this tag.
An unbalanced article is one that does not fairly represent the entire scope of an article's subject. For example, the biography of a top sportsman who later became a prominent coach might deal almost exclusively with his playing career or almost exclusively with his coaching career, when it might be more reasonable for the article to deal with both equally.
This should not be confused with an article where there is a lack of balance due to editorial bias - for those articles please use {{POV}} instead.
Some subject imbalance may be due to the population of Wikipedian editors — an article on a worldwide subject may deal more with its impact and aspects in European, North American and/or Anglocentric countries than those areas where there are few Wikipedian editors, for example. In these cases, the {{systemic bias}} template may be more appropriate.
How to use
Place {{Cleanup weighted|date=November 2024}}
at the top of the article, then explain your reasons on the article's talk page. To specify the section of the talk page, use {{Cleanup weighted|2=talk page section name|date=November 2024}}
.
This template can be used for specific sections only, like this: {{Cleanup weighted|section|date=November 2024}}
. Place it after the section header, at the top of the relevant section. This will place a small message box at the left side of the section, instead of a banner at the top of the article. Again, use the 2nd parameter (2= ) to link to the talk page section.
A different template, {{Cleanup weighted section}}, can be used to place a full-width banner at the top of a section, rather than the small message box. Place it after the section header, at the top of the relevant section, like this: {{Cleanup weighted section|date=November 2024}}
. Again, use the 2nd parameter (2= ) to link to the talk page section.
This template will categorize tagged articles in Category:Articles needing more viewpoints.
This template should only be used in the main (article) namespace. Do not place this template on talk pages, user pages, policies and guidelines, or other pages.
