==Purpose==
This template is for creating a properly-formatted reference citation to articles in ''Pool & Billiard Magazine'', frequently cited in [[cue sports]] articles (see [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Cue sports|WikiProject Cue sports]] for more information). It is almost always used inside <code><nowiki><ref name="PBMag </nowiki>{{var|YYYY-XX}}<nowiki>">...</ref></nowiki></code> (with the date). The benefit of the template is that it automatically provides the {{para|publisher}}, {{para|issn}}, {{para|location}}, and {{para|journal}} parameters of {{tl|Cite journal}} for you.

The template uses the same (relevant) parameter names as {{tl|Cite news}}. {{strong|The {{para|title}} parameter is {{em|required}}.}} If the cited item is a regular feature (such as a mini-column), use the feature's name as the title, e.g. {{para|title|Calendar}}. If the feature has no by-line, you can use the editor of the tournament section as the author for purposes of tournament articles, or otherwise use the last name of the managing editor, and first name of the managing editor followed by "(ed.)".

The <code>at</code> parameter can be used, optionally, to specific the name (without quotation marks or other markup) of the section or department in which the article appears, if the article has a separate title.

This template cannot be [[Wikipedia:Template substitution|subst]]'d, unless this is done before it is put inside <code><nowiki><ref...></ref></nowiki></code> (due to a bug in the {{xtag|ref}} and {{xtag|references|s}} system). There is no reason to subst it anyway, and doing so will produce messy results.

If you need to cite the same source in the same article more than once, use <code><nowiki><ref name="PBMag </nowiki>{{var|YYYY-XX}}<nowiki>" /></nowiki></code> for the subsequent citations. See {{tl|rp}} if a page number is needed in subsequent citations.

If only one page or page range needs to be cited in this source in the article, simply add the page number(s) with the <code>page</code> or <code>pages</code> parameter, as appropriate ({{em|without}} "p." or "pp.").

The <code>url</code> parameter is '''only''' for a URL ''directly'' to an online copy of the cited article, not to the magazine's homepage nor to a Wikipedia article about the magazine.
