QPN is an abbreviation for Queensland Place Names.

== Usage ==
This template creates a {{tl|cite web}} citation to individual records in the online database of Queensland Place Names, a useful [https://www.nrm.qld.gov.au/property/placenames/ searchable] reference source on Queensland's place names. It covers cities, towns, suburbs, localities and railway stations as well as geographical features such as mountains, rivers, etc. It does not cover street names or buildings (no schools, churches, etc.).

==Parameters==
* There are three unnamed parameters
# Reference number. This is a mandatory parameter. It can be found in the Reference No. field in the Queensland Places Names entry
# Place name. This is a mandatory parameter and should appear exactly as in the Queensland Place Names entry (spelling and upper/lower case must match).
# Disambiguation. This is optional and is only required when an article contains two QPN citations to the same place name. It enables the reader to distinguish between the two otherwise identical citations. There are two common situations when the QPN contains the same name. The most common case is when there is a town and a suburb/locality of the same name, in which case the word "town" and "suburb"/"locality" can be used to disambiguate. Another common situation is when a suburb/locality is split between two local government areas, in which case the name of the LGA could be used, e.g. "City Brisbane" vs "City of Ipswich". The disambiguation chosen should relate to some point of difference in the two QPN entries.
* The access date can be specified using the <code>access-date</code> field

Error checking is not done at all. Specifying an incorrect reference number or place name may result in a link to a non-existing record.

==Harvard style referencing==
This template provides a simple Harvard style reference, using QPN followed by the ID number. For example, to reference the suburb of Kenmore use {{tl2|sfn|QPN41505}} or {{tl2|harvnb|QPN41505}}, as appropriate. However, year referencing is not supported at this time.
