You can be more specific (which helps reduce some editors' feeling of alarm, if it's just a rename or merge!) by using one of the following:
* {{para|type|renaming}}
* {{para|type|merging}}
* {{para|type|deletion}}

Template wrappers {{tlx|cfrnotice}} and {{tlx|cfmnotice}} do this for you automatically.

You can also specify the target of a rename or merge (just the category name without the "Category:" part (this can't handle complex cases like a three-way merge):

* {{para|type|renaming}}, {{para|target|{{var|New category name}}}}
* {{para|type|merging}}, {{para|target|{{var|Redundant category name}}}}

{{tlx|cfrnotice}} and {{tlx|cfmnotice}} will also pass this parameter, and have mnemonic {{para|to}} and {{para|with}} aliases for them, respectively:

* {{tlsx|cfrnotice|Foo|to{{=}}bar}}
