Wikipedia maintenance categories are often used to categorise different types of pages depending on their [[wp:sort key|sort key]]. This template gives a way to index entries starting with different letters.

Parameters
* '''category''' (optional) specifies the category (defaults to the current page);
* '''letter''' is the index letter (or character);
